The edge band

The Edge Band is a Nepalese Classic Band , formed in 1998 in Pokhara. The Edge came into the Nepali Rock scene with a self titled debut in 2000. The video of the song “mero aasu” from the debut album, viewed a country wide popularity rush within a week of its official release. This success gave the band a much needed break into the majority music industry in Nepal. The album included other hits like jeewan mero, pagal nabhana, and abundant jams and rehearsals.

Jeewan connected with three talented seasoned musicians in Pokhara. In the band, jeewan gurung stands on the vocal, Som stands as the  lead guitarist, Rockey as the bass guitarist, Sanjeeb as the rhythm guitarist and the drummer was Basanta. This state of peace  didn’t last long. In just a few years, the band found itself in a deep crisis. With other priorities competing  against the assurance to continue making music, it became obvious that the original lineup would fade. The disbanding became the unavoidable reality. The status that followed the disbanding, front-man Jeewan Gurung continued with his singing. The never-ending passion proved to be a rewarding experience. In 2003, through to create.

The new lineup is perhaps the most talented ever. Emerging from a deep interval the band cut their second album Vibes with Vajra Records in 2006. The album contains some of the most intelligent originals the band has in its credit till date. Recorded and mastered at Sacred Sound Studio, Kathmandu, Vibes shows the band’s technical ability, patience, and lyrical maturity. 'Thaha chaina', an orchestral arrangement; 'shanti ko sandesh', a hard rock with patriotic theme; 'kasailai', a steady rock groove; bhramma, an alternative experiment; ballads, 'jiuna lai garo' and 'dukha diyera'; and soothing 'prastab' and 'lekhiyeka shabda' demonstrate the cohesion amidst diversity in composition.Despite the obstacles in the voyage of the edge band, this band can be named as one of the most popuplar band in the era of Nepali music.
